MYRAMAZE^®

MYRAMAZE^® is the extract from the leaves and branches of Myrothamnus flabellifolia, known in Africa as the resurrection bush. The plant can dry out completely to survive periods of drought. With the first rain its leaves unfold and it shines in fresh green. This ability was taken as inspiration to develop MYRAMAZE^® to soothe and moisturise stressed, very dry and delicate skin.

Our skin barrier prevents the uncontrolled evaporation of water. Its full functionality is important to keep the skin moist and in good shape. Environmental factors such as dry air, warm temperatures and sunlight are typical aggressors that attack the skin barrier. Not only the summer climate, but also working indoors in environments with low humidity, leads to a threat to the skin barrier. It dries out, loses lipids through lipid peroxidation and produces a high TEWL. In the long term, this can lead to skin irritation, redness and itching.

Clinical studies have shown that MYRAMAZE^® effectively reduces irritation and redness caused by dry atopic skin and regenerates stressed and sensitive areas of skin. MYRAMAZE^® revitalises dry skin with a single application. It increases hydration by 25 % and lasts longer than 2 days. Continuous use for 10 days restores skin hydration, increases barrier strength and skin regeneration.

In-vitro studies have shown that the resurrection ability of Myrothamnus flabellifolia can be transferred to the skin barrier. Trehalose, which retains the necessary residual moisture when the plant is dried out, protects the skin barrier from drying out and provides additional moisture. At the same time, strong antioxidants protect the lipids from lipid peroxidation and thus maintain the functionality of the skin barrier.
