ILLUMISCIN^®-GLOW

ILLUMISCIN^®-GLOW provides a bright and even skin complexion for consumers around the globe, regardless of ethnicity or gender. Hordatines, obtained from upcycled brewers’ barley sprouts, were identified by AI as brand new inhibitors of tyrosinase, a key modulator of our skin tone.

Skin pigment variations and colour belong to the most important determinants of our skin appearance. Even, if they are interpreted differently across different ethnicities, an even skin tone is universally regarded as a sign of health, wellbeing and beauty.

During the skin pigmentation process, a pivotal function of the epidermis to protect keratinocytes from DNA damage, pigment is distributed in the form of melanosomes containing melanin, which absorbs the damaging fractions of sunlight. Clinical studies have shown that ILLUMISCIN^®-GLOW significantly reduces skin tanning, the intensity of sun spots and melasma. It acts as an anti-inflammatory, is gentle on the skin and provides a comfortable skin feel. It makes the skin brighter, more radiant and luminous. Extensive studies on multi-ethnic skin groups have shown general suitability and efficacy for all skin types, be it young and mature, male and female, Caucasian, Asian, Indian or African skin types.

In-vitro studies have shown that ILLUMISCIN^®-GLOW inhibits tyrosinase and blocks melanin synthesis. It does so by taking advantage of hordatines, a novel class of tyrosinase inhibitors. Hordatines showed superior binding to human tyrosinase as determined by molecular docking experiments using AI technology. In-silico analysis has shown that hordatines have better binding capabilities than Thiamidol^®, kojic acid, arbutin, ascorbic acid and other commonly used tyrosinase inhibitors.
